BUILD PROCESS

  • Stage 1 – Let’s Get Started

    Give us a call or send us a message! We want to build a relationship with you, not just build your home. We want to get to know our customers and what their needs, goals and expectations are so it is reflected in their handcrafted home. We want to know your vision and desires, as well as your limitations, so then we can provide you with some insight and together make sure that a custom home is the best fit for your family.

  • Stage 2 – Find Your Lot

    EKA Build builds throughout the Northeast Ohio area. We build on your lot, one of ours, or we can assist you in finding a lot or teardown. We are here to help you build your home on the right property. Once the lot is narrowed down, we can provide you with approximate site development costs (if applicable) to help you solidify your lot purchase decision.

  • Stage 3 – Your Home Vision

    Whether you have already started to brainstorm ideas or you have a blank slate, let’s collaborate! We can either set you up with a collaboration platform(s), such as through Houzz, or work off the one you have started. We make sure we save various ideas that are discussed throughout the process to incorporate them into your home. We continue to use these collaboration platforms into the early stages of building to assist you in finding the right finish details (paint color, flooring, lights, etc.). It is easy to get overwhelmed when building a custom home with the opportunity to make so many decisions, but we guide you with a step by step decision file and walk with you through these items (many times our design team will make suggestions or decisions based on the client’s vision).

    This vision inspiration stage can be started before finding your lot, but it is great to find your lot early on in order to design to your selected property.

  • Stage 4 – Meet with the Bank

    We have several banks we work with for Construction loans that we can recommend (if needed). Getting an understanding for your estimated preapproval loan amount or your budget is critical because the goal is creating a home that most closely reflects the client’s vision and budget.

  • Stage 5 – Design Your Home

    Once you are ready, we move forward with a Design-Build Agreement to create a customized plan that reflects you! We ideally like to work with our architects so we can make sure your vision and budget are kept in check through the design. We have found this saves our client’s time and money. However, we have worked with many other architects who do exceptional work as well. We would like to ideally have the customized plans detailed out with your true budget in mind.

    With the plans finalized and the details of what to include or not include identified, we finalize the building quote. All of this then gets compiled into the Construction Agreement. The finalized building plans and Construction Agreement are turned into the bank (if you are working with a bank).

  • Stage 6 – Build Your Home

    Let the fun begin! We break ground on your home once the agreement(s) are in place.

    We will bring your plans to life, while monitoring the construction details and progress. Throughout the construction process we will keep you in the loop. For us, CLIENT COMMUNICATION IS KEY at this phase, and in all the rest as well. We provide various tools to keep you informed about the process, the decisions/selections made or the open ones, the potential cost upgrades or savings, etc. We also provide bi-weekly conference calls with our clients to keep that open dialogue. Even with all of this, the clients always have access to us by phone call, email and on-site visits. Our management team is constantly on-site making sure your home is built to our EKA Build high quality standard. The management team is there several times each week, if not every day. We make sure your handcrafted home is a home we personally want to live in.

    A few weeks prior to move in, we have a final walkthrough to discuss the various features and/or mechanics of the home. We also make sure the home meets and exceeds your expectations.

  • Stage 7 – Welcome Home!

    The big day is finally here for you to move in! This is a special day for our clients and us, sometimes filled with joyful tears. We pride ourselves on guiding you through this journey in creating a one of a kind dream home. We will make sure that when you move in everything is completed to your satisfaction. Then even after you move in, the EKA Build team is still here to assist you. We also offer an 11-month walk-through to remedy construction deficiencies that may occur. We stand behind our workmanship 100%.
